Title: Fire Safety of Nile Floating Hotels Using Fire and Evacuation Simulation Techniques
Author        : Ehab Mohamed Ahmed Dabess
Collection   : Ph.D. Marine
Abstract:
Nile-floating hotels that operate in the Nile River in short cruises from Aswan to Luxor or in long cruises from Aswan to Cairo have significant economic impact. Besides, tourism is one of the most important resources of national income in Egypt and Nile-floating hotels are considered as a major tourist attraction.
The fleet of Nile-floating hotels, which consists of about 280 units, contributes about 502 million dollars annually from the Egyptian national income.
Unfortunately this fleet, which carries about 56,000 tourists and workers, is subjected to many types of accidents such as stranding, collision, fire and sinking. These accidents may lead to disasters with bad effect on the reputation of Nile tourism and the national economy of Egypt, especially if the accident causes fatalities or affects the navigational operation on the River Nile.
