Title: Genetic Algorithm in tuning PID Controller
Author        : Ahmed Abd El-Hamid Afify

Abstract:
It is interesting to note that more than half of the industrial controllers in use today are PID controllers .Because most PID controllers are adjusted on-site, many different types of tuning rules have been proposed in the literature. Using these tuning rules, delicate and fine tuning of PID controllers can be made on-site. Also, automatic tuning methods have been developed and some of the PID controllers may possess on-line automatic tuning capabilities.
The computational optimization approach presented here is a genetic algorithm, it is used to design control systems such as to search optimal sets of parameter values to satisfy given transient response specifications that used to find best cost function . The genetic algorithm (GA) is an optimization and search technique based on the principles of genetics and natural selection. A GA allows a population composed of many individuals to evolve under specified selection rules to a state that maximizes the “fitness” (i.e., minimizes the cost function).
